Session One We had a great first session where we explored what Marvelous Mathematical Minds meant to us and then we started some exploring around the geometry theme.
We read the story " The Greedy Traingle. We talked about different types of trinagkles and their properties. We made a mini book with an example we drew of each triangle.Later we turned these into charcters that could be used in the " Greedy Triangle " Book.
We then turned into problem solvers and used straws and pipecleaners to construct models based off different shapes. We split into three teams and had twenty minutes. We identified the shapes we used within our models .
Mrs Ineson gave us some clues about a famous mathematician. The clues were a Roman Soldier, mirror, leaver, eureka, gold crown but we didn’t guess until she showed us the book “Mr Archimedes Bath “
Today we started with reading a book called “A Placefor Zero”. This book was really clever as the author used a lot of mathematical terms and the characters were designed around numbers. We then looked at a mathematical word for the week…..Triskaidekaphobia. Mrs Ineson split it up into sections to give us clues. Tri means three in Greek Kai means add Deka means ten
We then knew that arachnophobia was a fear of spiders so worked out that this word meant a fear of the number 13.
To see if we could remember a type of triangle and its properties we got to describe one to Mrs. Ineson and then ice it onto a biscuit.
Our design challenge today was to design a geometric town using all the language of geometry we had learnt.
Before we knew it, it was time to get ready to finish the session. We completed a personal reflection and were presented with our certificate. Watch out world – here come our marvelous mathematical minds

Session One
We had a great first session where we explored what Marvelous Mathematical Minds
meant to us and then we started some exploring around the geometry theme.
We read this poem together and then talked about how we like to learn and what skills we felt we had to share.
We started a mind map in our school groups to show what areas of geometry we knew
about. We looked at how to name shapes and saw the link into the Greek language.
We read the story " The Greedy Traingle. We talked about different types of trinagkles and their properties. We made a mini book with an example we drew of each triangle.Later we turned these into charcters that could be used in the " Greedy Triangle " Book.

Session Two
Welcome back to session two.
Tri means three in Greek
Kai means add
Deka means ten
We then knew that arachnophobia was a fear of spiders so worked out that this word meant a fear of the number 13.
We then played a game of shape bingo.
Some of the group shared what extra information they found out about Archimedes during the week.
We split up into three groups today and did the imagination station, matchstick puzzles and designing a pattern.
To see if we could remember a type of triangle and its properties we got to describe one to Mrs. Ineson and then ice it onto a biscuit.
Our design challenge today was to design a geometric town using all the language of geometry we had learnt.
